Today, Parshant Sharma, Coordinator, AICC Legal cell, PPCC has filed a complaint against newly appointed Inspector General (IGP) of Patiala Rakesh Aggarwal with the election commission.

Parshant Sharma has alleged that Rakesh Aggarwal remained Head of Security of former chief minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh and presently has been posted at home city of Capt Amarinder Singh may have influence over fair conduct of election in Patiala, as Rakesh Aggarwal is a close aide of Capt Amarinder Singh and has spent a significant portion of time at Patiala, during past four and half years.

The congress party has demanded his immediate transfer as IGP Patiala range as he was serving at disposal of former chief minister a significant time of his tenure as security head to chief minister at Patiala.

At present being Inspector General of Police at Patiala, Rakesh Aggarwal shall be responsible for security at polling booths, maintenance of law and order during elections at Patiala as well. Capt Amarinder Singh has formed a new political party namely Punjab Lok congress and this political party shall be contesting elections in Punjab as same has been publically announced by its head Capt Amarinder Singh.   It is most likely that either Capt Amarinder Singh or someone from his family or someone very close aide of him shall be contesting elections from Patiala and constituencies in proximity.

Chief electoral officer, Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju has demanded a report from the additional chief secretary , home department ,Punjab government on this complaint.
