IIT Ropar inks pact with DMCH Ludhiana for cooperation in research and healthcare technologies

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)Ropar and Dayanand Medical College and Hospital Ludhiana (DMCH Ludhiana) has signed MoU for Co-operation and promotion of research in healthcare technologies. The MoU was signed by Prof Rajeev Ahuja, Director IIT Ropar and Dr. Gurpreet Wander, Chairman R&D, DMCH, Ludhiana.

IIT Ropar and DMCH Ludhiana will explore clinical trials of health technologies and transnational clinical research, data sharing for clinical and engineering research, creation of joint educational and research programs with both clinical and engineering aspects, partnership in innovation and entrepreneurship driven opportunities and resources, partnership in collaborative consulting and research projects, and last but not the least, sharing of scientific-technical network and infrastructure under the umbrella of this MoU.

The faculty members of both institutes will be working on conducting research using each other’s laboratories and other facilities and they will be collaborating for research work and writing relevant research papers.

During the collaboration, Professor Rajeev Ahuja said, “The basic idea behind the exchange programme is to strengthen long-term bilateral cooperation between medical institution and technical institution to lead for development of several innovation projects in medical field, research and clinical expertise.”

Dr. Gurpreet Wander shared that, “The purpose of this MoU is to implement cooperative and collaborative activities, which will address multidisciplinary medical, scientific and technological problems and solutions for considerable social benefit.”

During the proceedings, Dr. Bishav Mohan, Professor and Head, Department of Cardiology and Umesh, Chief Financial Officer, DMCH, Ludhiana were present. Prof. Manoranjan Mishra, Dean, Faculty Affairs and Administration, Dr. Ashish Sahani, Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Dr. Pushpendra P. Singh, Associate Dean, R&D, Dr. Subhash Martha, Associate Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Apurva Mudgal, Associate Dean, Continuing Education and Outreach, Dr. Atharva Poundarik, Chairperson, Industry and Corporate Relations, Faculty-in-Charge IIT Ropar – TBIF from IIT Ropar were present.
