IIT Ropar’s Tech fest- ADVITIYA- kicked off; exhibition by ISRO,Army main attraction

IIT Ropar’s techno-management festival Advitiya was inaugurated on 6th of February 2020. The ceremony was graced by Padam Vibhushan Dr. R. Chidambaram as the chief guest. Dr. Chidambaram played an instrumental role in Pokharan I and Pokharan II test and was the principal scientific advisor to the government of India. During his inaugural address, he stressed on the importance of both sciences as well as applied science, the requirement of becoming a knowledge economy.

He suggested it could be possible only by a hundred percentage literacy, particularly for females in India. Artillery Exhibition by Indian Army put on display for three days. BOFORS guns, artillery guns and Infantry weapons. Apart from giving visitors a glimpse of its military muscle, the event was also aimed at encouraging the city’s youth to get themselves drafted into the armed forces.


Other notable people present on the occasion were Prof. Javed Agrewala (Dean Research), Dr. C.C Reddy (Dean Student Affairs), Prof. Harpreet Singh (Dean Industrial Consultancy) and Dr. Neeraj Goel (Faculty Advisor of Board of Science and Technology, IIT Ropar). Prof. S.K. Das, Director, IIT Ropar highlighted the importance of such festivals in increasing the technical caliber of everyone involved.


The fourth edition of Advitiya will be marked by lectures of eminent scientists and industrialists, more than 40 competitions of different genres, 5 workshops, exhibitions by ISRO and Indian Army, startup conclave, an event by the society of women engineers. Advitiya will also be an attraction for school students as it engages more than 3000 students by techno school program, where students of various schools will be participating in Advitiya at IIT Ropar for junior scientist competitions, tech walk, and Advitiya Open Olympiad. The festival is going to be a 3-day extravaganza from 7th to 9th February for various students across the country.
