Immediate Action Taken Against Child Begging in Patiala

This morning, Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab, was informed by someone about the presence of children begging and sleeping near the old bus stand in Patiala. In response, prompt action was taken under the orders of the Minister by DCPO Patiala, Shaina Kapoor.

A raid was conducted in the city, leading to the rescue of four children. Among them, three were found begging, and one was discovered sleeping on the road. The rescued children have been taken into protective custody.

Shaina Kapoor confirmed that the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has been notified, and legal actions are being pursued against individuals who exploit children for begging. The rescued child who was found sleeping on the road has been reunited with their parents, and efforts to provide sponsorship for the child’s education have been initiated by the DCPO office.

Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized the commitment of the Punjab government to protect children from exploitation and ensure their well-being. She reiterated the importance of community vigilance and urged citizens to report any instances of child begging or homelessness to the authorities.

Meanwhile, DC Patiala Showkat Ahmad Parray said that Traffic police will also be issued instructions to not let children beg on roads.
