In morning earthquake in Rajasthan; in evening in Amritsar

An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit Amritsar on Friday night, National Centre for Seismology has said, as reported by news agency ANI. Tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR, Jammu, Uttarakhand, Lahore and parts of Uttar Pradesh, which prompted people to rush out of their homes. Several took to social media to inform the felt the tremors.

Raveen Thukral, media advisor to Punjab CM tweeted that ‘ latest reports suggest that epiccentre was Afghanistan though severe tremors were felt in Amritsar and other parts of Punjab. Fortunately no reports of any damage from any part of the state.”

‘After 21 hours, once again earthquake of magnitude: 6.3, Occurred on 12-02-2021, 22:31:33 IST, Lat: 38.00 & Long: 73.58, Depth: 74 Km, Location: 285km ENE of Fayzabad, Afghanistan.” The information was tweeted by National Center for Seismology.

Earlier in the day, as per National Center for Seismology Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 12-02-2021, 08:01:47 IST, Lat: 30.10 & Long: 69.70, Depth: 290 Km ,Location: 420km NW of Bikaner, Rajasthan.

As per National Center for Seismology Earthquake of Magnitude:4.7, Occurred on 12-02-2021, 01:04:03 IST, Lat: 37.00 & Long: 72.32, Depth: 234 Km ,Location: 157km E of Fayzabad, Afghanistan.

There has been no report of any damage so far in Amritsar and surrounding areas.

Tremors were also felt in Pakistan’s Islamabad, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. There were no reports of loss to life or property in the neighbouring country. The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.4, according to Geo news.

A low-intensity earthquake of 3.5 magnitudes on the Richter scale occurred in Bathinda, Punjab, just five days ago, said the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
