In Uttrakhand three months’ rations being allocated in advance in April under PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana –P.S. Pangti

On Tuesday, at Press Information Bureau, Dehradun, P.S. Pangti, Additional Commissioner (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Uttarakhand), briefed the media on the availability of LPG and other petroleum products, food security preparedness, and essential commodities.
As part of its ongoing efforts to keep the media informed about developments in West Asia, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organized a press conference at PIB, Dehradun.
P.S. Pangti stated that the supply of domestic LPG is being regularly ensured across the state. There is no shortage of diesel and petrol, and gas supplies are being maintained regularly to hospitals and educational institutions.
He informed that an SOP has been issued by the Uttarakhand Government for 66% distribution of commercial cylinders. Under this, 6,310 cylinders will be supplied daily to hotels and resorts, restaurants and dhabas, guest houses, paying guest facilities, homestays, wedding functions, and industries.
He further stated that special preparations have been made by the government for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and wedding season. Keeping in view the pilgrimage and tourism season, the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand has already sent a demand to the Government of India requesting restoration of 100% allocation of commercial LPG to the state from April to November, along with an additional 5% quota.
Adequate availability of 5 kg cylinders for migrant workers and students has been ensured. All gas agencies in the state have been directed to maintain timely delivery. These 5 kg ‘Chhotu’ cylinders (FTL – Free Trade LPG) can be obtained from any gas agency upon presenting valid ID proof.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, ration card holders of Antyodaya and Priority households are receiving three months’ ration (April, May, and June) together in April from their nearest fair price shops. Around 1.4 million ration card holder families in the state are being allocated three months’ ration at once.
Regarding panic booking, Pangti informed that in the past 25 days, the highest number of bookings was recorded on March 15 at 90,000. However, the situation normalized by April 6, with bookings at 45,000. Currently, LPG booking in the state is at normal levels.
On PNG, he stated that efforts are being made on a war footing to expand PNG connections across the state. As per Government of India directives, five City Gas Distribution companies are working in Uttarakhand to expand PNG and alternative fuel infrastructure. These include GAIL Gas in Dehradun, IOC-Adani Gas Pvt. Ltd. in Udham Singh Nagar, HNGPL in Haridwar, and HPCL in Nainital.
There are no disruptions or restrictions in the supply of CNG, domestic PNG, and commercial and industrial PNG in the state. These companies are taking steps to rapidly expand domestic PNG connections, ensure maximum coverage in minimum time, prioritize surveys and institutional connections, monitor daily progress, and set priorities based on public interest. Currently, around 37,000 households in the state have active PNG connections.
Regarding alternative fuel arrangements, the Forest Department has ensured adequate availability of wood at all timber depots across the state.
Regular monitoring and enforcement actions are being carried out in Uttarakhand to curb hoarding and black marketing. So far, 6,205 inspections and 373 raids have been conducted, resulting in 19 FIRs, 7 arrests, and 16 notices issued.
