Inauguration of Simulation and Modeling Lab at University Business School, MRSPTU

The University Business School (UBS) of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Simulation and Modeling Lab, marking a major stride toward technology-driven management education and strengthened academia–industry collaboration.

The lab was inaugurated by Abhishek Kumar Sharma, Deputy General Manager (DGM), State Bank of India (SBI), in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MRSPTU. The event was graced by Sanju Banga, ADM, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Registrar, MRSPTU; Rohit Kakkar, AGM, Promod Kumar Yadava, AGM, Ramneet Kaur, Deputy Manager, SBI; Er. Harjot Singh Sidhu, Director, Training and Placement; Dr. Rajesh Gupta, PI, CRC; Dr. Pritpal Singh Bhullar, Head, UBS; and Er. Rahul Garg, Programmer, MRSPTU.

The advanced facility, equipped with 25 high-performance computers generously donated by the State Bank of India will provide students with hands-on learning in Business Analytics, Financial Modeling, and Decision Simulation—bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world business challenges.

Presiding over the ceremony, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar  Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MRSPTU, expressed heartfelt gratitude to SBI for its continued support in strengthening academic infrastructure. He lauded SBI’s commitment to promoting education and youth skill development, emphasizing that the new lab would greatly enhance MBA students’ analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities through simulation-based learning.

In his address, Abhishek Kumar Sharma underscored the importance of academia–industry collaboration in nurturing future-ready professionals. He expressed confidence that the facility would serve as a valuable platform for students to gain practical exposure to data-driven decision-making and business analytics tools.

Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Registrar, MRSPTU, highlighted the need for sustained partnerships between academia and industry to drive innovation and mutual growth.

Dr. Pritpal Singh Bhullar, Head, UBS, noted that the lab will significantly enrich courses such as Business Analytics, Marketing Research, and Financial Analytics, enabling students to acquire industry-relevant competencies.

The inauguration was also attended by Dr. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Campus Director, along with Deans, Directors, and faculty members from various departments.

Following the inauguration, the SBI delegation interacted with university officials to explore further avenues for collaboration under CSR initiatives and visited the BCL–Idea Lab to observe ongoing innovation and entrepreneurship projects.

The newly inaugurated Simulation and Modeling Lab stands as a milestone in MRSPTU’s journey toward experiential learning and industry-integrated education, reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering innovation, skill development, and practical excellence among its management students.
