“Due to operational reasons, with effect from 21 September 2023, Indian visa services have been suspended till further notice. Please keep checking BLS website for further updates,” BLS International said on their website.

This is an escalation amid rising tensions between the two nations following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s comments on Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s death.

Yesterday, Adrienne Watson, the White House National Security Council Spokesperson, serving under the leadership of National Security Advisor issues a statement on her official X (formerly known as Twitter) account that “ Reports that we rebuffed Canada in any way on this are flatly false. We are coordinating and consulting with Canada closely on this issue.  This is a serious matter and we support Canada’s ongoing law enforcement efforts. We are also engaging the Indian government.”
