Induction programme begins at Giani Zail Singh Engg College for new students

Three week-long induction programme began at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda for its new entrants.
Students from states including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and North East have joined GZSCCET to undertake Engineering and Architecture programmes here.
New batch of B. Tech. students joined today at GZSCCET Bathinda. Hundreds of students accompanied with their parents enthusiastically interacted with the faculty and administration here.
The 21-day mandatory Induction Program as per University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) requirements started today under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Rajeev Varshney.
The induction programme shall include various interactive sessions with the experts besides field visits and exposure to various facets and facilities available locally.
The presiding guest, Dean Student Welfare of MRSPTU Bathinda, Dr. Rakesh K. Bansal welcomed the new batch telling them about the history of GZSSECT.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rakesh K. Bansal highlighted the role of Engineering and Architecture in shaping the world economy. He spoke on the various phases of Engineering during the 30-years of existence of GZSCCET on the Technical Education map of Punjab. He stressed that schemes of Govt of India including MOOCs and Swayam should be used to its fullest extent to get education at par with the IITs. He also highlighted the accomplishments of GZSCCET Alumni around the globe in the area of Engineering, Research, Administration, Defence forces, and successful Entrepreneurs.
Dr. Bansal also explained in detail the new schemes adopted by the MRSPTU with effect from 2019 admissions of B. Tech. with Honors and B. Tech. with additional specialization as Minor in Engg.
During an interactive session, admitted students asked various questions ranging from Role of Engineers in the modern day industrial set up; placement avenues and facilities available for their all-round personality development here.
MRSPTU Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar and Registrar Dr. Ashish Baldi congratulated the faculty and students for organizing such an impressive function.
It was followed by an interaction of the students with the experts, who motivated them to pursue their studies with great passion so that they can contribute in the development of the society.
Ar. Jatinder Kaur handled various queries of parents related to Hostel, Library, Sports facilities. The student and parents were introduced with activities taking place in the college like Department clubs, placement facility, gym, sports activities, mentoring system, student welfare, library, college infrastructure etc. and the achievements and milestones the college has achieved with constant pursuance of excellence.
The students were also informed about course structure, pattern, rules and regulations of examinations with special reference to Discipline.
The parents appreciated the faculty interaction, vibrant Campus infrastructure and other facilities in the campus. The 21 day programme has been planned to cover the different dimensions of professional life. Sessions related to Human values, Professional ethics, and communication skills are being arranged by inviting experienced resource persons of eminence.
The first session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rajeev Varshney to all the parents who have reposed faith in the first Government established Engineering College in the state of Punjab.
