Inter-Zonal Youth Festival: Stellar Performance by MRSPTU main campus Lifts Overall Trophy

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) Main Campus, Bathinda, registered a sweeping victory at the 10th Inter-Zonal Youth Festival, lifting the coveted overall trophy and dominating four out of the five major category events.

The two-day cultural extravaganza, hosted at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, concluded with grandeur, youthful energy and artistic brilliance under the theme “Virsa te Vikas.” With participation from more than 25 colleges and hundreds of enthusiastic students, the festival showcased exceptional talent across Dance, Music, Theatre, Literary and Fine Arts competitions—celebrating Punjab’s vibrant heritage and progressive spirit.

MRSPTU Main Campus emerged as the overall champion, securing top positions in Dance, Theatre, Literary and Fine Arts categories, reflecting meticulous preparation, artistic excellence and remarkable teamwork. Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology (BFCET), Bathinda, won the Music category trophy and secured second place overall, while Punjab State Aeronautical Engineering College (PSAEC), Patiala, claimed third position.

The festival was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MRSPTU, who encouraged students to stay rooted in cultural values while fostering innovation and creativity. “Youth festivals are powerful platforms that nurture confidence, leadership and originality. It is inspiring to witness the dedication and talent displayed by students. Such events play a vital role in shaping confident, cultured and creative youth,” he remarked.

The event was coordinated by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare under Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot and was graced by eminent personalities including actor-director Jasmer Singh Dhat and actress-director Dr. Prabhsharan Kaur.

A distinguished panel of judges evaluated the events across categories:

Dance: Kavleen Kaur,  Manisha, Manjeet Kaur, Harshjot Kaur

Theatre:  Harpreet Singh Rimpi,  Balwinder Vicky, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Sukhbir Singh Gill

Music: Dr. Tajinder Singh, Nirmal Nimma , Harjeet Guddu ,  Daljit Singh Khakh,  Satvir Singh,  Randeep Kaur

Literary: Rajeev Kumar Arora , Former Head, AIR FM Bathinda

Prominent MRSPTU officials present included Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar (Registrar), Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Aggarwal (Campus Director, GZSCCET), Dr. Anupam Kumar (Dean R&D), Dr. Dinesh Kumar (Director CDC), Dr. Rajesh Gupta (Prof. Incharge CRC), Harjinder Singh Sidhu (Director PR), Er. Harjot Singh Sidhu (Director T&P), Dr. Shweta, and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur. The programme was excellently conducted by Prof. Sunita Kotwal and Prof. Gurpreet Soni of MIMIT Malout.

The University Cultural Council—Dr. Iqbal Singh Brar, Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Dr. Sukhjinder Singh, Ar. Amandeep Kaur,  Rahul Menon,  Sikandar Singh Sidhu and team—ensured flawless coordination with support from Er. Gagandeep Sodhi, Ar. Simran, Dr. Hasratjot Kaur, Tejinder Singh and  Naresh Dhawan.

The audience was enthralled by outstanding performances in Gidha, Bhangra, Rangoli, Painting, Photography, Elocution and various Fine Arts and Literary events.

* Best Actor (Male): Shahbaz Singh (PIT Moga)

* Best Actor (Female): Navjot Kaur (MRSPTU Main Campus)

* Best Dancer: Anmol Singh and Husanpreet Kaur (MRSPTU Main Campus)

* Best Dancer – Gidha (Female): Sukhmanjot Kaur (MRSPTU Main Campus)

* Best Debater: Shivam Sharma (MRSPTU Main Campus)

MRSPTU’s cultural triumph was strengthened by the dedicated efforts of Dean Student Welfare Dr. Paramjeet Singh, Cultural Coordinator Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, and Club Coordinators Dr. Satpal Singh, Dr. Barinderjit Singh, Dr. Shweta Rani, Dr. Kapil Arora, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Prabhsharan Kaur, Dr. Anumeet Kaur and Ar. Meetakshi Sharma, whose meticulous planning and guidance ensured MRSPTU’s outstanding performance.

The festival concluded on a high note with Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma and Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, felicitating the winners. With spirited participation, expert judgment and seamless organisation, the 10th Inter-Zonal Youth Festival stood out as a vibrant celebration of culture, creativity and youthful dynamism—further reaffirming MRSPTU’s leadership in cultural excellence.
