International Tea Day: Tea is much more than a beverage-Puri

Tea is a beverage used by all the countries of the world. That is why United Nations General Assembly declared this day of May 21 as International Tea Day. Tea plays a dominant role to alleviate poverty and food security in developing countries as it inherits in itself cultural and economic significance. Its production and processing are the means to earn the living for millions of families. So, it carries the importance of being much more than a beverage as it accelerates employment. It is certainly a service of providing stability in this world.
Food and Agriculture Organisation has also announced the theme of International Tea Day 2025 as “Tea for Better lives”. This theme elaborates and encompasses the role of tea production and consumption for people of various cultures all through the length and breadth of the world. It reiterates and asserts its conclusive and perfect bang on the lives of people and its production.
International Tea Day: Tea is much more than a beverage-Puri said “the day also honours, exalts and glorifies its cultural heritage, health uses and economic value in its far reaching sense. Tea dates refer to an easy, convenient, and an inexpensive way to have get-togethers over important conversations and deep-bonding of relations. The main goal of the day is to promote good production and consumption of tea of various flavours.”
On the occasion of International Tea Day, May 21, 2025, Rtn. Jaswant Singh Puri son of Dr. Ajit Singh Puri donated refreshment consisting of 450 (four hundred and fifty) Parle packets of chatkeens – khatta Meetha and one kilogram pack of Horlicks to the Society for welfare of the handicapped – Patiala school for The Blind as a Rotary project at Patiala, Rotary Club Chandigarh Tricity. The President of the society Col. Karaminder Singh and Principle of the Blind School welcomed the donation.
