International Women’s Day Celebrated at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

The University School of Law, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The event aimed to highlight the achievements of women and to raise awareness about safeguarding their rights in society.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Navneet Kaur, Convener. This was followed by an insightful keynote address by Prof. (Dr.) Jaspreet Kaur Majithia, Dean, Faculty of Law, Amity University, Mohali. She deliberated on the theme of women’s empowerment and legal awareness, emphasising the importance of legal literacy among women and encouraging students to contribute towards building a society rooted in equality, justice, and respect.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, who shared inspiring perspectives on the role of women across various spheres of life. The programme served as a meaningful platform to sensitize young minds to the significance of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

International Women’s Day Celebrated at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University 

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, appreciated the department for organising such a meaningful initiative. Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean, highlighted that the objective of the lecture was to recognise the contributions of women across all fields—from science and politics to everyday community leadership—while bringing attention to stories that have often remained overlooked.

The celebration concluded with a collective pledge by students and faculty members to continue advocating for women’s rights, equality, and dignity in every sphere of society.
