After the finalization of seat sharing between Punjab Lok Congress (PLC)-BJP-SAD (Dhindsa group), the parties has started the process of finalization of their candidates.
All eyes are on Patiala (Urban) as who is going to contest the election on PLC ticket from Patiala (urban)? Everybody, be it politician, resident, officers lobby in Punjab, Patiala is expecting a heartbeat, charismatic, iconic figure of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh to contest from Patiala (Urban).
But, as per political pundits, ‘he may not contest this election and may launch his grandson Nirvan Singh (daughter’s son) from Patiala (urban), as his political heir. He will campaign for his party candidates, as a star campaigner. Now all responsibility falls on his own shoulder and he would be the lone key campaigner for his party candidates”.
This time Capt Amarinder Singh is not a chief ministerial candidate. BJP, a major stake holder of this alliance in these Punjab assembly elections will contest polls under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“Capt Amarinder Singh is eyeing for vice president of India post as M. Venkaiah Naidu’s term will end in mid 2022 as he took the oath as vice president of India and the chairman of Rajya Sabha on 11 August 2017. That’s why he may launch his grandson from Patiala in these elections” said a senior leader on the condition of anonymity. “
Capt Amarinder Singh had introduced his grandson, Nirvan Singh, to politics in early 2016, after his son Raninder Singh decided to hang up his boots as a politician.
“Capt’s daughter Jai Inder kaur too remained active in all these four and a half years of his chief minister ship tenure. As her political career time span will be less, so her younger son is a right choice for the family to launch him from their family bastion” said another senior politician.
Nirvan, who is the younger son of Amarinder’s daughter, Jai Inder Kaur, is being perceived as Amarinder’s heir apparent in politics as he has been handling Amarinder’s social media profiles. He even handled his twitter account throughout his four and a half chief minister tenure ship.
