JGND Punjab State Open University conducts Student Induction Programme

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala organised Student Induction Programme for learners of various UG, PG, and Certificate programmes on 10 April 2024. The Student Induction Programme, as per UGC Distance Education Bureau (DEB) guidelines, was conducted online to assist new students in adapting to the requirements of ODL (Online Distance Learning). Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, observed, “JGND PSOU has been implementing UGC guidelines on a regular basis to address critical issues of access, equity, Gross Enrollment Ratio (GBR) and quality of technology driven higher education to promote Open and Online Distance Learning as envisaged in NEP 2020. The Student Induction Programme aims to foster a supportive environment for academics, social integration and acquaint students with support services available at JGND PSOU.”
Student Induction Programme commenced with welcome address by Prof. Manjit Singh, Registrar, JGND PSOU. Prof Manjit Singh familiarised learners with the mission and vision of the university.
The students of January 2024 admission cycle were provided with an overview of PSOU ODL Programmes by Dr. Gurdip Singh Batra, Dean Academic Affairs. Prof Batra emphasized on importance of creating ABC ID to earn credits gained through online learning. Information about Learner Support Centres of the university was provided by Prof BS Khehra, Director LSC.
JGND Punjab State Open University conducts Student Induction Programme .The learners were apprised about the examination system of JGND PSOU by Prof. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa, Controller of Examination.
Director CITS, Dr. Amitoj Singh facilitated session on Learner Management System of the university.
Head, Admission Cell, Dr. Sukhpal Kaur gave a brief about university admission process. Dr. Sulakshna Dwivedi, Coordinator, School of Business Management and Commerce; Dr. Navleen Multani, Head, School of Languages; Prof BS Khehra, Head, School of Science and Emerging Technology; Dr. Parampreet Kaur, Head, School of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts; Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Head, School of Religious Studies and Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Head School of Education and Vocation addressed the students.
Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Navleen Multani, Director Public Relations. The programme was moderated by Dr. Shefali Bedi. Queries of students were taken up during the programme.
