J&K Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) of the Power Development Department (PDD) has appealed to the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to regularise engineers, settle other service demands.
Pirzada Hidayatalluh , the General secretary JKEEGA alleged that many decisions were taken by the government , but their implementation has been inordinately delayed.
In a signed petition addressed to the governor, all the engineers said that they are deeply disturbed by the continued neglect by the Government towards their future prospects. Jammu Kashmir power sector is running with nearly half of the engineers it requires, and the regularization of power engineers has been pending since so many decades .It may be recalled that the then State Administrative Council of J&K on 22nd Oct, 2019 approved the regularization proposal of power engineers. However, despite the lapse of three and a half years, the decision is still pending.
All the present chief engineers of the power development department are substantive Assistant Engineers and all the present superintending engineers are either substantive assistant engineers or junior engineers. All the executive engineers, assistant executive engineers and assistant engineers are Junior Engineers.
The present fact is that a single Engineer is holding the charges of three to four Divisions thereby making it impossible for power engineers to work up to the desired levels. As on July 2023.there are vacancies of managing director 02, executive director (E) 04. chief engineer (E)05. superintending engineer (E) 14 .executive engineers (E) 62 , assistant executive engineers (E) 134, assistant engineer (E) 167 and junior engineers (E) 333
Be it regularization of engineers, promotions at all levels, grade pay of Junior Engineers, reframing of welfare policy which was scrapped, DPCs and other allied issues, Pirzada Hidayatullah. General secretary the JKEEGA has urged the Lt. Governor on behalf of all the engineers of PDD ,to personally look into the matter and settle the issue and also direct the concerned administrative Authority to fill vacancies at all levels without any further delay.
JKEEGA petitions to Manoj Sinha Lt. Governor to regularise engineers, settle other service demands. V K Gupta spokesperson All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) , an amalgam of all Engineering Unions and Associations across the country has extended full support to the cause of electrical engineers who are suffering because of non-regularisation despite the SAC decision of 2019 to complete it in 2 months.
