KHALSA AID set up langar to feed flood affected Kerala
Kerala -Khalsa Aid volunteers, who reached Kochi in Kerala organised langar for the flood-hit people with the help of Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Thevara.
As Kerala is struggling with the unprecedented flooding, a group of Khalsa Aid Sikh volunteers came to the aid of victims of the natural calamity. The volunteers, who reached Kochi immediately started serving langar for the flood-hit people with the help of Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Thevara.
They have set up a relief camp in a school where meals are being served to thousands of local people and the number is increasing day by day.
“More volunteers will reach in Kerala soon to help and serve our brethren. We served rice and veggies to people and Local Gurudwara is helping in preparing food, said a spokesperson of the organization.
A volunteer from Punjab said, “As per inputs from our team in Kerala, people are in dire need of sanitary pads, mosquito nets, anti-bacterial soaps, slippers, tarapaulin sheets, knives, among other things. Soon, we will be establishing collection centres in Punjab to donate these.”
One lakh packets of relief material, each consisting of a mineral water bottle, biscuits, rusk, skimmed milk, sugar and tea leaves, were dispatched from Ludhiana by the government of Punjab.
Likewise Jalandhar administration airlifted 1000 quintals of ready to eat food, one lakh pfood packets containing one big two small packest of biscuits, one pack of tea leaves, one of sugar one water bottle and two packs of dry milk, from Adampur air base.
