Khalsa College Patiala is overall champion of Zonal Youth Festival

Three day Zonal Youth Festival of Punjabi University Patiala ended today with the beats of Jhoomar and Bhangra at Khalsa College Patiala. During the prize distribution Overall Champion trophy of Zonal Youth Festival was awarded to the winning College Principal Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha and Dean Cultural Affairs Dr. Harvinder Kaur, faculty members and students by Honorary Secretary of the college Governing Body, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Paramjeet Singh Sidhu (Pammi Bai), a renowned folk singer of Punjab, and Incharge, Department of Youth Welfare, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Gursewak Lambi. Punjabi University, Patiala was declared 1st runner up and Mohindra College, Patiala was declared 2nd runner up. Besides these prizes, Overall Music trophy, Overall Theatre Items trophy, Overall Folk Games trophy, Overall Folk Arts trophy and Overall Dance trophy were also bagged by Khalsa College . Overall Fine Arts trophy was won by Mohindra College, Patiala and Overall Literary Items trophy was won by Punjabi University, Patiala.
Paramjit Singh Sidhu (Pammi Bai) congratulated the college over this grand celebration of the festival. He appreciated the hard work done by Bhangra dancers. He said that Bhangra is the folk dance of Punjab and it should be preserved. He expressed his sorrow at the fact that very few teams from colleges are participating in this important folk dance of Punjab. He announced that he would make all possible efforts to help in increasing the number of participants in Bhangra.
Rakhra congratulated the college over a huge gathering during the festival. He advised the students to keep their goal in focus and work towards it with determination.
College Principal Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha thanked Punjabi University Patiala for giving them the opportunity to organise this youth festival. He said that the students who participated or the students who attended the youth festival would have enhanced their personality by knowing more about Punjabi culture and tradition. Dr. Ubha congratulated the faculty members and students of Zonal Youth Festival for winning first position and also for well organising the festival. He also announced that an Academy of Folk Dances will be opened where free coaching will be given on Saturday and Sunday.
During different competitions, in Bhangra Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Mohindra College, Patiala got 2nd position and Punjabi University, Patiala got 3rd position. Damandeep Singh from Mohindra College, Patiala was declared Best Bhangra dancer.
In Jhoomar Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Mohindra College Patiala got 2nd position, Punjabi University, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Skit Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Punjabi University, Patiala got 2nd position and Mohindra College, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Mime Goswami Ganesh Datta Sanatan Dharam College Banur won 1st position, Mohindra College, Patiala got 2nd position and University College Ghanour (Patiala) got 3rd position.
In Western Solo Instrument PMN College Rajpura won 1st position, Khalsa College, Patiala got 2nd position and Punjabi University, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Western Solo Song Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, PMN College Rajpura got 2nd position and MM Modi College, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Western Group Song Khalsa College Patiala won 1st position, PMN College, Rajpura got 2nd position and MM Modi College, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Classical Instrument (Percussion) Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, University College Ghanour (Patiala) got 2nd position.
In Classical Instrument (Non-Percussion) Punjabi University, Patiala won 1st position, GCG Patiala got 2nd position and University College Ghanour (Patiala) got 3rd position.
In Elocution Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Punjabi University Patiala got 2nd position and Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Poetry Recitation State College of Education, Patiala won 1st position, Asian Education Institute, Patiala got 2nd position and Punjabi University, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Staapu Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib (Patiala) won 1st position, University College, Miranpur (Patiala) got 2nd position and Asian Education Institute, Patiala got 3rd position.
In Rassa Tapna University College, Miranpur (Patiala) won 1st position.
In Geete Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, JN Govt. College for Women Mandi Gobindgarh, got 2nd position and PMN College, Rajpura got 3rd position.
