Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated World Soil Health Day

Krishi Vigyan Kendra celebrated World Soil Health Day at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fatehgarh Sahib under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR.

Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal (Deputy Director, KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib) on this occasion welcome the participants and suggested farmers to test their soil for better use of fertilizers. He said during this year KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib has distributed more than 1000 soil health cards. He also enumerate the various agronomic practices such as green manuring, inclusion of legume crop, compost etc. to maintain soil health.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated World Soil Health DayReet Verma AP (plant protection) appealed farmers to utilize the soil testing facilities of KVK to maintain the soil health and advised the farmers to get their soil tested after every alternate year.

Dr. Ajay Singh, Asstt. Animal Scientist discussed soil health for better production of fodder for milch animals.Dr. Manisha Bhatia, Asstt. Home Scientist, motivated the farmers to form self-help group.On this occasion KVK exhibited various technologies particularly on soil health management such as how to take soil sample for field crops, orchards and in problematic soils.Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal (Deputy Director, KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib also distributed the soil health card to the farmers. Pamphlets giving information on the importance of soil testing for maintaining soil health were also distributed.

More than 100 farmers attended the programme and they interacted with the Scientists on this issue. At the end Dr Manisha Bhatia, gave vote of thanks to the scientists and farmers.
