Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized Farmer-Scientist Interface

PAU’s, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala has organized “Farmer-Scientist Interface” under the aegis of Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon worthy Vice Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, New Delhi was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr. AK Singh, Deputy Director General, ICAR and Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ATARI (Zone – I, ICAR), Ludhiana were also present there.

Dr. Jaskaran Singh Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana welcomed the Chief Guest. Scientist and progressive farmers from different districts like Sangrur, Barnala, Fetehgarh Sahib etc. also participated in this interface.  In this Dr. T. Mohapatra interacted with the farmers and discussed the problems faced by the farming community. In this context, he also stated that the Government will organize some new schemes for the farming community.He encouraged the farmers to use Happy Seeder for sowing of wheat. He also praised the farmers who had not burnt the residue and save the environment.  He urged the farmers for judicious use of pesticides and natural resources.

Dr. A K Singh, Deputy Director General, ICAR added that Punjab State is at first position not only in wheat production but in vegetable production also. He thanked the farmers for sharing their problems with them. Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon worthy Vice Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana motivated the farmers for value addition of their produce for doubling their income.  He further insisted the farmers to adopt subsidiary occupations along with agriculture. Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ATARI (Zone – I, ICAR), Ludhiana highlighted that sowing of wheat crop with happy seeder improves the soil health and save the environment also. Dr. Rajni Goel, Associate Professor, KVK, Patiala presented the glimpses of salient achievements of this Centre. All the farmers and guests also visited the crop cafeteria and demonstration units of KVK. At the end, Dr. Jasvinder Singh, Associate Director (Trg.), KVK, Patiala thanked all the esteemed guests, scientists and farmers.
