In a momentous occasion aimed at fostering the athletic potential of Punjab’s youth, an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed today between Bectors Food Specialists Limited and the Sports Department of Patiala district. Under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann this groundbreaking agreement, valued at one crore rupees, marks the establishment of the first-ever sports nursery.
The signing ceremony, graced by the presence of MLA Guralal Ghanour and Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, signifies a collaborative effort with an investment of Rs. 50 lakhs each from Bectors Food Specialists Limited through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund and the Punjab Sports Department. This commitment underscores the collective dedication to elevating Punjab’s standing in the field of sports. He said it would first Kabaddi and Kho Kho indoor ground of the State built in Ghonour.
MLA Guralal Ghanour expressed his enthusiasm for the sports nursery, characterizing it as a pivotal milestone destined to shape future champions on national and international stages. He lauded Bector’s Food Specialists Limited for their CSR contribution and highlighted the positive impact this venture will have on the burgeoning athletes of Punjab.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, elated at the prospect of a 4650 square feet gymnasium hall cum sports nursery at University College Ghanour, revealed Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s advocacy for establishing a minimum of five sports nurseries in each district of Punjab. She emphasized that expert coaches will be appointed to provide comprehensive sports training, with the facility set to be dedicated to players by June 30, 2024. This collaborative effort, funded by the Punjab government and CSR initiatives, is poised to be a boon for the sportsmen of Ghanour, fostering a vibrant sports culture in the region.
Praveen Kumar Goyal, Executive Director of Bector’s Food Specialist Limited, praised the Punjab government’s initiative, recognizing the potential of sports stadiums in villages to provide unparalleled opportunities for aspiring athletes. He confirmed a contribution of Rs. 50 lakhs from Bector’s Food Specialist Ltd. through their CSR fund towards the realization of this sports nursery.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of District Sports Officer Harpinder Singh, G.M. DIC Angad Singh Sohi, and Xen PWD Manpreet Singh Dua, underscoring the collective commitment towards the development of sports infrastructure in Punjab.
