Late night Blast Rocks Srinagar, nine dead, several injured in Police Station mishap

In a late night mishap, on Friday night (November 14, 2025) where at least nine persons were injured, three of them critically, in a massive explosion inside the Nowgam police station in Srinagar . The incident has rocked not only the valley but the entire nation.
Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, termed it an accidental explosion and said that any speculations in the incident are unnecessary as the probe is underway. Addressing the media, Prabhat said the police station suffered huge damage, while adjoining buildings were affected too. A probe is underway to ascertain the cause of the explosion that left 9 dead.
The victims who died in the blast are yet to be identified.Those who were injured in the explosion have been admitted to several hospitals across Srinagar,
As per available information, the blast took place around 11.20 p.m. Friday night, resulting in a huge flame engulfing the police station. Several vehicles parked on the police station premises caught fire and the impact of the blast was felt in the entire area, they added.
The injured, many with burn injuries, were shifted to nearby hospitals in Srinagar for treatment, officials said.
Initial reports suggested that a joint team of J&K Police and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was surveying explosives, including ammonium nitrate, confiscated during the recent raids in Haryana’s Faridabad, at the time of the blast.
The police, however, did not immediately confirm the exact cause of the blast and the number of casualties.
