Introduced by Mashable on June 30, 2010; World Social Media got recognition as it has shown impact on global communication and to bring people closer together.
Sixdegrees was the first social media site created by Andrew Weinreich. However, Friendster emerged as the first modern social media platform in 2002 with sites for safer connections.
Linkedin was launched with Facebook and Myspace in 2004. It was followed by YouTube in 2005 and then by Twitter in 2006. Instagram gained its launch in 2010 which continued to expand its influence.
Social Media has become a convenient platform to contact loved ones, run professional networks and access easy reach.
But “don’t use Social Media to impress, use it to impact”. It should educate others like our Prime Minister Narendra Modi did on the International Yoga Day. Moreover, ‘Man Ki Baat’ is a majestic programme in which he addresses Indians on All India Radio, DD National and DD News. The first episode was started on 3rd October, 2014. Its main purpose is to establish a dialogue with the citizens on issues of day-to-day governance”.
All the episodes upto date can be viewed on Social Media Handle etc. This year of 2025 will highlight new Social Media Trends that have emerged in recent years.
