On the night of January 29,2025, a vehicle bearing a Punjab number plate PB35AE1342 was caught by the Flying Squad team in the New Delhi district. “Upon searching (the car), we discovered cash, multiple liquor bottles, and Aam Aadmi Party pamphlets inside the vehicle,” Delhi Police said in a statement.
The Flying Squad attends to all Model Code of Conduct violations and all complaints related to liquor, arms and cash used for elections.
Later, the Punjab government has issued a statement “It has come to the knowledge of Department of Transport (Govt of Punjab), that a vehicle carrying registration number PB35AE1342 has been apprehended in Delhi carrying illegal liquor and some unaccounted cash. It has been alleged in the media reports that the vehicle has a sticker of Punjab Govt on it.
As per official record, it is found that the vehicle is registered in the name of Maj. Anubhav Shivpuri who was posted in Army Dental College, Pathankot 3 years back and is a permanent resident of Khadki, Maharshtra. Moreover, the registered vehicle model on the registration number PB35AE1342 is “Ford Eco Sport” of make year 2018 but the actual vehicle apprehended by the police belongs to “Hyundai Creta” series. This confirms that the vehicles number plate is “forged and fake”. High Security Registration Plate(HSRP) is mandatory for all vehicles and the registration plate visible in the video is an ordinary one, without the features of HSRP, hence easy to forge.
Liquor, cash in Punjab Govt vehicle, state authorities rejects allegations . The government spokesperson added also we have searched our records and found that “no such vehicle is owned or hired by Govt of Punjab”. The apprehended vehicle does not belong to Govt of Punjab at all.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said the matter was “totally fake and laughable”.
