‘Lohar Puttar’: the autobiography of the father of combines manufacturing in India unveiled by Harpal Cheema

Punjab’s Finance, Planning, Taxation, and Excise Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, proudly introduced the autobiography of Amarjit Singh Lotey, the visionary founder of Kartar Combines, titled ‘Lohar Puttar’. During the book launch event held today, Harpal Singh Cheema highlighted Amarjit Singh Lotey’s remarkable journey – from crafting village wells as an iron smith to pioneering the country’s first combine and tractor manufacturing, serving as a wellspring of inspiration for the newer generation.
Referring to ‘Lohar Puttar’ as a comprehensive guide to the agriculture industry, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema elucidated that the book not only chronicles the highs and lows of a triumphant industrialist’s life but also paints a vivid picture of the agrarian rural life. He expressed his conviction that this autobiography will offer invaluable insights to the youth aspiring for professional success.
Harpal Singh Cheema lauded the background of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with the entire ministerial team and all the MLAs of Punjab, for their humble origins, which have enabled the state government to resonate with the people’s sentiments. He emphasized the vital role played by accomplished entrepreneurs like Amarjit Singh Lotey, who, despite his education in Nabha, propelled the impressive growth of Kartar Agro Industry, thus contributing significantly to the state’s progress.
Prominent figures like MLA Nabha Gurdev Singh Dev Mann, MLA Khanna Tarunpreet Singh Soundh, I.G. Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, distinguished literary figure Prof. Kripal Kazak, Darshan Buttar – President of Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, renowned storyteller Jasveer Rana, Dr. Gurmeet Kallarmajarri, and former MLA Surjit Singh Dhiman graced the occasion with their presence.
