Scholar Fields Public School celebrated the Punjabi folk festival which commemorates the passing of the winter- solstice.
Lohri also marks the end of winter and is a traditional welcome of longer days and sun’s journey into the northern hemisphere. The students were full of enthusiasm and best dressed in resplendent colour traditional salwar suits and boys in traditional Kurta Pajama set the ball rolling.
A bonfire was lit symbolising a prayer to Agni/ fire the spark of life and parikrama (going round the bonfire) was performed for abundant crop and prosperity .Offerings of groundnut, corn and sesemae seeds was made to the bonfire.
Students performed Ghidha and Bhangra on foot tapping numbers. The function was wrapped up with the greetings words of blessings from the School Director S.S. Sodhi , Chairman S.S. Chadha Vice Principal Bindu Kohli proposed a vote of thanks. Sweets were distributed to all present on the premises.
