Lok Sabha Polls: With 1-1 each, again Gandhi Vs Preneet Kaur poll contest going to held in Patiala

Former AAP MP from Patiala,Dr Dharamvir Gandhi on Monday joined the Congress in the presence of senior party leaders at Chandigarh.
Dr Dharamvir Gandhi is almost final to contest as a Congress candidate from the Patiala seat against BJP’s Preneet Kaur.
Both Dr Dharamvir Gandhi and Preneet Kaur had contested 2014 and 2019 elections against each other. Dr Gandhi had won the 2014 election by defeating Preneet Kaur and in the next elections of 2019 Preneet Kaur had defeated Dr Dharamvir Gandhi and became the MP from Patiala.
Party leaders Pawan Khera and AICC in-charge for Punjab, Devendra Yadav, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and CLP leader Pratap Singh Bajwa welcomed Gandhi into the party fold.
Bajwa said the Congress will be strengthened with his joining while Warring said such professionals joining the the party is a good sign.
Gandhi joined politics inspired by the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement, and campaigned for the AAP during the 2013 Delhi Legislative Assembly election. He contested the 2014 Indian general election from Patiala on an AAP ticket. Gandhi defeated the incumbent MP Preneet Kaur by a margin of 20,942 votes. Later he resigned from AAP in 2016. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Gandhi formed his own outfit Nawan Punjab Party and lost the elections. Today he merged it with the Congress
