Lovepreet,Rajwinder shines in Rayat Bahra Sports Meet
Lovepreet Singh was adjudged the Best Athlete (Boys) and Rajwinder of Management was declared Best Athlete (Girls) in the Annual Sports Meet 2018 of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutes Patiala Campus.
In 100 M Boys, Lovepreet Singh of Civil Engg secured 1st Prize while Rajwinder Kaur got the first position in the same event in the girls category. In Shotput, Satinder Singh and Gurpreet Kaur bagged the first and second positions while Damanpreet Singh got the third position.
All the students of Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, law and Polytechnic Institutes made catching competitions shown by their participation in different matches like Cricket, Volley Ball, Badminton and Basket Ball. Kabaddi Matches made a special attraction of spectators with their individual traditional styles.
More than 500 students took part in track event races that is 400, 200 and 100 Meter Races, Javelin Throw, Shot-put, Long Jump, Power Lifting, Push-ups and many more.
Girl students of Patiala Campus did not lag behind. They were the equal competitors with boys in all the athletics, field games and all matches.
AS Ghuman, Superintendent of Police, Traffic, was the Chief Guest. He along with Campus Director Dr Piush Verma, Director Admin and Principals hoisted the flag and declared the Athletic Meet open by releasing colorful balloons and pigeons.
Ghuman on this occasion said sports plays an important role in educating students as it teaches them to become strong from inside and also develop a fit and sound body. Being actively involved in sports can help students relax from their daily routine of learning course syllabus and lessen the exam stress as well. Ghuman himself represented Punjab in National Games 1982 in 100 mt Heats. Chairman Gurvinder Singh Bahra conveyed his greetings to the athletes and participants and congratulated the winners and their mentors. Campus Director Dr Piush Verma welcomed the Chief Guest AS Ghuman, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director (National Institute of Sports, Patiala, and Guest of Honour Harwant Kaur, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Special Task Force.
