Ludhiana’s Rajguru Nagar residents tell Dewan: Crime Rising, Development Missing, Drugs Rampant

Former President of the District Congress Committee, Ludhiana (Urban) and Ex-Chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Pawan Dewan, today convened a meeting with the residents of the Rajguru Nagar at the residence of B.M.Kalia. Among others, the meeting witnessed large participation from senior citizens.

During the meeting, the residents told Dewan that in wake of the deteriorating ‘law and order’ situation, they are living under constant fear. “The incidents of crime are increasing and it is virtually impossible to step out of the house after sunset”, the residents rued.

Those present in the meeting also expressed serious concerns about the rampant  drug problem. They apprised Dewan that curse of drugs has cause devastation but unfortunately no concrete steps are being taken by authorities concerned to eliminate the menace once and for all.

Those present in the meeting also raised the issue of the lack of development. “It is really unfortunate that the infrastructure development is missing”, the residents said, while adding that there must be all round development, which unfortunately is not happening.

Residents informed Dewan that their area is highly vulnerable to frequent thefts and urged immediate action, adding that several incidents had occurred in the recent past.

Dewan patiently listened to the residents and assured them that he would make earnest efforts to ensure the issues shared by them are taken to a logical conclusion.

Prominent among those present include, Inderjit Kapoor, Davinder Bedi, S.S. Khurana, Bhupinder Singh Gill, Sunil Sharma, Dr. Jagdev Singh Grewal, Bal Kishan Sharma and Dinesh Gupta.
