Panchs and Sarpanchs of the region gathered to express their gratitude after the Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, approved the long-standing demand of the local panchayats and declared Nangal as a separate development block, based on the recommendation of Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains. They stated that the Punjab Government has fulfilled its electoral promise and paved the way for the area’s development.
Today, during the weekly public meeting program “Sada MLA Sade Vich,” held at 2RVR Nangal, key figures including Chairman Kamikkar Singh Dhadi (Constituency Coordinator), Punjab Agro Director Ram Kumar Mukkari (District Secretary), Hitesh Sharma, Deepak Soni, Satish Chopra, Daya Singh, Advocate Nishat, and several sarpanchs such as Channan Singh Pammo Dhillon (Brahmpur), Jaswinder Singh Kaku (Bhangla), Gurvinder Kaur (Raypur), Palwinder Kaur (Surewal Lower), Kanwaljit Kaur (Surewal Upper), Panch Bhago Begum, Rakesh Kaur, Jujhar Singh (Aspur), Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon, Vikkar Singh, Rajinder Singh Kaku, Gurvinder Singh Kala Shokar, along with others from the area, highlighted that the long-standing issue faced by people living near the Himachal border has now been resolved.
They explained that earlier, panchayats of villages falling under the different subdivisions/tehsils of Sri Anandpur Sahib and Nangal, as well as Nurpur Bedi sub-tehsil, faced immense inconvenience in traveling to block offices located far away. But with Nangal now declared as a separate block, the path for local development and prosperity has opened up.
Leaders mentioned that during the 2022 elections, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains had promised to eliminate such bureaucratic hardships for people. He has stayed true to that promise by regularly holding weekly public meetings at the Nangal Seva Sadan, where citizens can directly address their issues without any recommendations. They also highlighted the government programs such as village-level grievance Jan Sunvai camps and “Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar,” through which welfare schemes have been effectively delivered to eligible beneficiaries. Sikhya Karanti and Yudh Nashiya Virudh campaigns have also shown positive results in the villages. The public interaction process has been continuous, allowing residents easy access to their elected representatives.
Constituency MLA and Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains explained that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Cabinet has approved major administrative reforms aimed at strengthening rural governance and service delivery by reorganizing rural development blocks. This decision is intended to align block boundaries with district limits, thereby improving administrative coordination.
Bains elaborated that the reorganization was aimed at eliminating overlaps in administrative functions, improving the efficiency of implementing rural development schemes, and ensuring seamless coordination between block- and district-level administrations. The process involved in-depth assessments of current administrative boundaries and operational needs.
He assured that all necessary legal and administrative procedures were followed during this reorganization. He emphasized that the people of this rural belt had been demanding a separate block for a long time so that development schemes could reach their villages without delay. With widespread consultation and efforts, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann approved the demand and officially granted block status to Nangal in the Cabinet meeting.
