Major police raids in Ludhiana on the complaint of TCY group

Recently Cyber Crime Cell of Punjab Police, Mohali conducted raids at the office of a Ludhiana based local company Exoways Web Technologies Pvt. Ltd (Fourmodules.com) , Feroze Gandhi Market. Also raided were the residences of its key members at Ludhiana and Longowal etc.

The accused have been allegedly stealing data & copying the software of the complainant TCYonline.com . Two teams of total 13 police officials under the I.O Bhagwant Singh conducted these raids. Digital Forensic Van and latest forensic tools were also sent for this operation. The operation started early in the morning and lasted approximately 8 to 9 hours. Around 17 laptops and PCs along with pen drives, DVDs and other materials were seized.

The police had received a complaint from the Ludhiana based edtech company TCY Learning Solutions P Ltd against Ramandeep Singh, Jagjit Singh, Rupinder Singh, Rahul Nagpal , Harpreet Kaur w/o Rahul Nagpal for allegedly  copying data, downloading and extracting Intellectual Property.

The Lawyer of TCY, Ankur Ghai, shared “Ramandeep Singh, Harpeet Kaur and Rahul Nagpal were earlier working with TCY and Jagjit was running his client’s franchise at Barnala. During their tenure, they had downloaded, copied , extracted client data/computer data base/information/wireframes/ Source Codes etc. from the computer network /system etc. in connivance with some other ex employees and illegally used the same for their own purposes. Action against others is also being initiated.

They set up the firm Exoways Web Technologies Pvt. Ltd in 2018 and started building parallel services under different firms. They also lured and took away some other employees of TCY who were having vital and confidential information regarding TCY services, the company that is a pioneer in its field and is well recognized for its innovations in the education sector in India and abroad.

They started selling the copied software for various courses like PTE/IELTS assessments etc at discounted rates to the TCY’s clients by the name of fourmodules.com. TCY had developed the softwares over decades and had been using the software for online coaching etc. by way of direct dealing with students and through center network.  TCY got to know from their own investigation that some company by the name of Exoways Web Technologies Pvt. Ltd had been illegally using the  software identical/pirated qua the software of TCY. Based on evidence, TCY lodged FIR (bearing no. 29) on 20.10.2020 under section 406/408/379/381/120-B/34 IPC and Section 43/66/66-B IT Act with Punjab State Cyber Crime Police Station SAS Nagar against the directors of M/s Exoways web technologies pvt. Ltd. for the illegal acts committed.”

He also added “We are continuously monitoring other parties including clients of the accused and are starting the needful soon.”

Seeing the prompt action by the cyber police, the complainants are hopeful that the accused will be punished soon.
