Man gets life term for murder of his 14 months old daughter

A local court has sent a man of Village Bhalian, Police Station Sri Chamkaur Sahib of Rupnagar district for life imprisonment for causing the death of his 14 months old daughter by beatings and pressing her neck.
The cause for committing murder was birth of twins as he was already having one daughter aged about 5 years at the time of commission of offence and birth of twin daughters inflamed him to such an extent that his wife with his consent gave one daughter in adoption to the sister of son-in-law of mother’s sister of wife.
When due to assault on her tiny body of baby by the father, she became lifeless, panicked father took her to Civil Hospital alongwith his neighbourer but the doctors declared the child brought dead.
After investigation, police presented the challan in the Court on 3.10.2023. Agreeing with the contention of State Counsel, Ramesh Kumari, District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar, held the accused guilty and convicted him under Sections 302 of IPC and sentenced him to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs.10,000 . In default of payment of fine, he shall to further undergo simple imprisonment for Two Years under Section 302 IPC.
