Man gets life term for raping minor

A man was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Special Court, Rupnagar for commission of offence of repeated rape and sexual assault upon the minor victim.
The accused was the parental uncle of the victim. FIR in the case was registered in September, 2022 at police station Sadar Rupnagar and challan was presented before the court on October 31, 2022.
Agreeing with the contention of State Counsel, Ramesh Kumari, District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar held him guilty and convicted him under Sections 376(2) (f) IPC and Section 6 read with section 5(1) & (n) of the POCSO Act under section 10 read with section 9(1) &(n) of POCSO Act and sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 under section 6 of POCSO Act and further sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for Seven years and fined him Rs.10,000 under section 10 of POCSO Act.
Compensation of Rs.7 lacs was also granted to the minor victim to cover all expenses of her rehabilitation along with compensation of Rs.30.000 to be awarded to her which is imposed upon the convict as fine.
