Mansa added Jewel in Punjab’s crown- bags best district award at national level

District Mansa was conferred with the national award for best performing district in Poshan Abhiyan for the second consecutive year today. Deputy commissioner Mansa Apneet Riyait received the award from Union Minister for Social Security, Women and Child development Smriti Irani at a special ceremony held at Delhi.

Speaking at the event Smriti Irani said that Mansa has been conferred this award for implementing portion abhiyan at the grass root level and fighting against malnutrition.

Deputy Commissioner Mansa Apneet Riyait, civil surgeon Dr Lal Chand Thakral, district programme officer Avinash Walia and Swastha Bharat Prerak, Aditya Madan received this award. last year two district mansa was conferred with the same award for successfully implementing nutrition campaign and changing lives of people in a healthier way .

Social Security and Women and Children Development department director Gurpreet K Sapra added that the main motive of Poshan abhiyan is to put malnutrition to an end. She added that the campaign is being run successfully under Union Minister Smriti Irani whose main motive is to ensure better health for children upto 6 years of age suffering from low birth weight, lack of nutritious food, lack of physical development and to treat anaemia . Women and children were mainly included under this program.  Making Poshan Abhiyan  a widely run campaign in the district  activities such as baby shower for expecting mothers , campaign on breast feeding and information regarding malnutrition and its effects was widely circulated. besides this special monitoring of anaemic children after every three months was conducted . The targets were made due to utmost dedication of anganwadi workers and ASHA workers, ANMs and others.
