Mata Gujri College gets STAR COLLEGE status by GOI

Mata Gujri College has added another feather in its cap of achievements. It has attained ‘Star College Status’ under the scheme of “Star College” by the Department of Biotechnology of Government of India.

Talking about this, Dr. Kashmir Singh Director – Principal of the college, said that the status has been provided to the college with the blessings of Mata Gujri Ji, guidance of SGPC President Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal and the support of the Secretariat, SGPC. The status was given due to the excellent performance by the Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology, Zoology, Botany, Maths, Agriculture and Computer Science departments of the college. He also informed that prior from this, the college has also been conferred the status of Autonomous college and has been re- accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC.

Expressing his happiness, the Director Principal also told that this status has been achieved under the Star College Scheme initiated by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India. Under this scheme, the students of Undergraduate classes of Sciences will also be given minor projects and the grant of 1.5 Crore to 2 Crore will be used to make Science Labs well- equipped and also upgrade the required instruments in the labs for the practical of the students, so that the students are provided with ample opportunities to grow and excel. Along with this, the students will also be taken to visit the various National Science Institutions.

Mata Gujri College gets STAR COLLEGE status by GOI

Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee congratulated the college on this success and said that two more colleges  of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, apart from Mata Gujri College, have come under this scheme including Guru Nanak College, Budhlada and Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib. On this achievement, Dr. Roop Singh, Chief Secretary of SGPC and Ranjit Singh Libra, Honorary Secretary of the college also congratulated the whole SGPC family. On this occasion, Dean of the Science Departments Prof. Pardeep Kaur, Heads of the various departments and the staff members were also present.
