Mata Gujri College organizes special lecture for the preparation of competition exams

Department of Social Sciences of Mata Gujri College organised special lecture on ‘Indian Arts, Culture, Cinema and Competitive Examinations’. The keynote speaker in this lecture was Dr. Rakesh Bawa, Head of the Department of History, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Drauli Kalan, Jalandhar.

Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Dean of Social Sciences Prof.  Dr. Anupreet Singh Tiwana welcomed the keynote speaker.

Director Principal Dr.  Kashmir Singh said that the Department of Social Sciences has been set up in college for the purpose of preparing the students for the competitive examinations.  The syllabus of B.A Honors (Social Sciences) course is quite similar to the UPSC syllabus.

Dr. Bawa In his address to the students,  explained how Indian Arts, Culture and Cinema are the subjects of UPSC, PPSC and other competitive exams, and also guided to prepare answers by understanding these topics historically.  He further stated that UPSC has been working on this subject for the last 10 years. PPSC is asking a lot of questions in this subject and if the students can prepare this subject, which is also quite interesting to read, they can easily come in merit with good marks.

On this occasion, the role of stage management was played by Prof. Jasbir Singh and in the end, Prof. Talwinder Singh extended the vote of thanks.

On this occasion, Dr. Satnam Singh, Associate Dean, Social Science and Head of Post Graduate Department of Political Science, Prof. Amardeep Kaur Sandhu and large number of students were present.
