Mata Gujri College Political Science Deptt oragnised a National Seminar

Political Science department of Mata Gujri College organized a national seminar on ‘Emerging Trends in Politics of North Western India.’ Amarjeet Singh Chawla, Vice President, Shiromani Akali Dal and member of SGPC attended the event as the chief guest. Director Principal of the college, Dr. Kashmir Singh, said that such seminars help the students to gain more knowledge and also motivate them to write research papers.

The chief guest of the seminar, Amarjeet Singh Chawla, talked about the various facets and stages of the politics in Punjab. Dr. Satnam Singh, Head of the Political Science department, discussed the aim and theme of the seminar and said that researchers from Punjab, Haryana, Jammu- Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territory- Chandigarh have participated in this seminar. Dr. Surjit Singh Narang of Sri Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar told that the politics of the northern states of India has been patchy since our freedom which has further affected the inter- regional relations of these states and the issues like water issues, land issues, and language issues have always been a part of their politics.

During this event, Prof. Jamshed Ali Khan of Political Science department of Punjabi University was awarded with ‘Mata Gujri Lifetime Academic Achievements Award’ for his research in politics. Dr. Jagroop Kaur, Head of the Political Science department and Dean Social Sciences in Punjabi University, Patiala said that the women should also actively take part in politics.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh handled the stage and almost 70 teachers and researchers including Dr. Gurpreet Singh Brar, Dr. Shweta Dhaliwal of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Dr. Jarnail Singh and Dr. Sukhwinder Singh presented their research papers during various sessions of this seminar.
