Mata Gujri College Students Complete ISRO Course
Fatehgarh Sahib-Students of Geography department of Mata Gujri College participated in the online course organized by Indian Space Research Organization, Dehradun on Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System and Global Navigation Satellite System. During this 4 months course, expert scientists acquainted students about Astronomy, Geography, Space Physics and satellite based information system.
Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh admired geography students and said, “Man made satellites have brought revolution in the every field of human life. This ultra modern technique has created new possibilities in the field of smart mobile phone, meteorology and geology.” He added, “With the remote sensing method, from any space centre, we can get accurate information about the earth’s ecosystem.”
Head of the geography department, Prof. Anupreet Singh Tiwana said, “ISRO provides training in the field of remote sensing and GIS under the space program without any fee. In this course, students of physics, agriculture, life science and computer science can participate and enhance their skills. In the developed countries, GIS and Remote Sensing is mainly used in scientific researches, conservation of resources, archaeology, urbanization and crime science. ISRO provided special certificates to Prof. Navdeep Kaur and 4 students of B.A, Atul Sagar, Divjot Singh, Simranjit Singh and Anjali respectively.
