Mata Gujri College successfully conducts 58th Annual Athletic Meet

The 58th Annual Athletic Meet was organized with great enthusiasm at Mata Gujri College where Engineer Sukhminder Singh, Secretary Education, Directorate of Education, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Gurparamjot Singh of B.A.-II won the title of Best Athlete, while Vishal Saini of B.A.J.M.C.-I secured the title of Second Best Athlete. Similarly, Harmanjot Kaur of M.C.A.-I bagged the Best Athlete title, while Jaismeen Kaur of B.A.-I won the Second Best Athlete title. In the March-Past competition, NSS Unit, Languages department, and Department of Management Studies secured the first, second, and third positions respectively.
Congratulating the college staff and students on the successful organization of the annual athletic meet, Chief Guest Er. Sukhminder Singh said that Mata Gujri College is one of the premier educational institutions of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. He added that the institution has been continuously making valuable contributions in the fields of religious education, academics, and sports. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports along with their studies, emphasizing that sports play an important role in the physical and mental development of students.


Earlier, the Director Principal of the college, Dr. Kashmir Singh, welcomed the Chief Guest and elaborated on the academic, sports, and cultural activities of the college. He stated that Mata Gujri College remains committed to the holistic development of students while fulfilling the educational needs of the present time and the region. Dean Sports Dr. Devinder Singh presented the vote of thanks and highlighted the college’s remarkable achievements in sports at national and international levels.
On this occasion, Former Junior Vice President of SGPC Avtar Singh Ria, Spokesperson of Shiromani Akali Dal Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni, Manager of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdeep Singh Kang, Former Head of the Sports Department Dr. Parminder Kaur Randhawa, President of the College Alumni Association Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, Controller Examinations Dr. Harjeet Singh, Dr. Jagpal Singh, Dr. Gurbaj Singh, Dr. Rashmi Arora, Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Dr. Harjeet Kaur, Birinder Singh Sarao, Dr. Seema Rani, Harbhinder Singh, Dr. Pushpinder Singh, Head of the Sports Department Baljinder Singh, Sports coach Bahadur Singh, Coach Joginder Pal, other dignitaries, staff members, and students were also present. During the event, the college’s sports coaches and former players were also specially honoured for their contributions.
