MC Patiala added another feather in its cap-Mayor

Fed up of long queues in the bank to deposit water and sewerage bills, the royal city Municipal Corporation (MC) has started online collection of the water and sewerage charges from residents in the city.

Sharing the information, Mayor Patiala Sanjeev Sharma Bittu said, “residents will get their water and sewerage bills on their mobile phones registered with the MC. They can pay bills online on the corporation’s portal- mcpatiala.org

Sharma added, “The civic body is already running digital platform for the property tax collection. Officials in the MC said out of 42,000 households in the city paying Rs1 crore as water and sewerage charges 12,000 had registered for the online payment of dues. The MC has around 1 lac dwelling units.”

Sharma informed that as per Punjab government policy, owners of houses of size upto 125 square yard are exempt from the payment of water and sewerage bills.

Sharma requested the residents of Patiala to come the corporation office and got their water and sewerage bill along with their mobile bills registered with the civic body and avail the digital payment facility.

As per information, till now six branches of Punjab National Bank (PNB), in different parts of the city, were empanneled with the municipal corporation, for depositing the water and sewerage bills. The residents can deposit their bills at A Tank, MC office, Gurbax colony, Tripuri town, Focal point and Bhupindra road branches of the PNB.
