The babies born by frozen embryo IVF technique (In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro (“in glass”) had similar growth parameters at five years as compared to babies born by fresh embryo transfer.

Dr. Monica Varma IVF specialist at Sadbhavna Hospital and IVF Centre, Patiala has concluded this in her research work entitled “Comparison of physical growth parameters of children conceived by donor oocytes with fresh versus frozen embryo transfer upto 5 years of age: A prospective study” .

Medico research work in IVF gets recognition at international level for second year in a row. This data was presented by her at the recently concluded 36th virtual Annual Meet of European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) from 5 to 8 th July, 2020. Dr. Monica Varma has suggested that similar childhood growth patterns between frozen and fresh embryo transfer gives reassurance about the safety and feasibility of the embryo freezing technique (vitrification). Vitrification, makes the IVF process much more safer for the patient and more successful in certain group of infertile patients. It is noteworthy that it is the second consecutive year when Dr. Monica Varma’s research work in IVF has been internationally recognized.
