Meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti held under chairmanship of MP Manish Tewari

A meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti of the Government Hospital, Sector-16, Chandigarh, was held under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament and former Union Minister, Manish Tewari. The session focused on long-pending issues related to the hospital’s development. A proposal for a fund of Rs 4 crore was put forward to provide better treatment and facilities for patients in the coming months. The meeting was attended by hospital representatives and other committee members.
Expressing concern, MP Tewari highlighted that despite the committee having a fund of Rs 37 crore, no meetings had been held in the last five years, leading to stagnation in several key projects.
To address this, approximately Rs 4 crore worth of projects were approved during the meeting. Notably, an ambulance will be provided from the MP’s quota to offer doorstep medical services to senior citizens. Additionally, new staff will be appointed under the Rogi Kalyan Samiti quota, and a 24×7 helpline will be launched for senior citizen patients to ensure they can be transported from home during medical emergencies.
Moreover, a proposal for Rs 1 crore was made to procure medical journals and anti-plagiarism software for students of the hospital’s affiliated medical college.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, Director Health Services Dr. Suman Singh, officers and members nominated by the administration were also present.
