Mining Mafia Firing Incident: Why No Arrests Despite FIR? BJP District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura Raises Sharp Questions

Even after an FIR was filed following the recent firing incident in the Saidpur area of Rupnagar district, not a single arrest has been made, even after a week has passed. This silence from the authorities has now raised serious questions — is the Punjab government protecting these criminals? Are these mafia elements, allegedly thriving under political patronage, now above the law?

BJP District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura launched a scathing attack on the state government, particularly targeting the local MLA , and questioned the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. He said this incident exposes the nexus between criminals and political protection in the state.

Several accused named in the FIR have been identified as individuals who were allegedly involved in illegal mining and criminal activities during the previous Congress government. These are the same faces who were highly active during Congress rule and now continue their operations with equal boldness under the current regime.

“Filing an FIR is just eyewash. The real question is — why hasn’t any action been taken yet?” said Ajayvir Singh Lalpura.

He alleged that the state government is deliberately suppressing the matter and providing political cover to the criminals. “Those who openly fired bullets and terrorized the common public are still roaming free. Why is the police hesitating to act? Who is stopping their arrest?” he asked.

Lalpura also questioned the silence of the local MLA, who once identified himself as an RTI activist and raised his voice against mining mafia. “When he didn’t have power, he stood on the streets shouting slogans against these mafias. Now that he’s in power, why is he silent?”

He emphasized that this is not an ordinary incident. “It is an organized criminal activity, a dangerous alliance of illegal mining and armed goons that is hollowing out Punjab,” he said.

“How many more such incidents will happen? How many bullets will fly? For how long will the public live under the shadow of fear?” — Lalpura posed these hard-hitting questions to the ruling party.

He issued a strong warning to the government: if all the accused are not arrested soon, the BJP will launch a mass movement in the district. “We will not remain silent. The public deserves answers, and it is our responsibility to bring their voice to the government.”

He also accused certain individuals within the state government of deliberately shielding these criminals so that their illegal operations can continue. “Those in power are using their authority not for public service, but to defend mafia interests. This is not democracy, it’s mafia rule,” said Lalpura.

The BJP leader demanded an impartial investigation and immediate arrests. He declared that if no action is taken within a week, BJP will open a front across Rupnagar and force the government to act against the culprits.

“The people want justice, not just an FIR — they want arrests,” asserted Ajayvir Singh Lalpura.

This incident, he added, is yet another example of the Punjab government’s failure. When criminals roam fearlessly and the ruling power remains silent, it signals a dangerous threat to democracy.
