Minister flouted CM orders; tested Covid positive; administration official’s home quarantine

In a bizarre incident, Punjab revenue minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, was seen attending the Independence Day function, without wearing a mask, violating Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh strict orders to follow Covid 19 guidelines in true spirits. “Wearing a mask is the foremost requirement for every person, whenever he moves outside.The CM has even directed the district administration, police officials to challan every one, who didn’t wear mask in public places. Now the minister has flouted the CM’s orders, the govt must challan the minister and set an example for other violators” said a resident.
Hours after presiding over the Independence Day function in Mansa, Punjab revenue minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, tested positive for Covid-19.
Mansa deputy commissioner Mohinder Pal said that the minister’s rapid antigen test was conducted in Mansa on Saturday after which he tested positive for coronavirus infection.
As per official sources deputy commissioner has asked the officials, including the entire senior district machinery to remain home quarantine, as per the health department guidelines. These senior officers met and remained with the minister.
Minister had even interacted with meritorious students after felicitating them during the Independence Day function.As per officials,” Minister had met hundreds of officials, students, party workers during his stay in Mansa’.
As per information, Mansa deputy commissioner Mohinder Pal , SSP Surinder Lamba ,District & Sessions Judge Mandeep Pannu, MLA Mansa Najar Singh Mansahia, Chairman Zila parishad Bikram singh Mofar, former MLA Inderjit Singh Mofar, President Youth Congress Committee Chuspinderbir Singh Chahal, Vice President Safai karamchari Commission Ram Singh, congress leader Gurpreet Kaur gagowal, Dr Manju Bansal, ADC Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu, DC (D) Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, Secy DLSA Amandeep Singh, AC (Gr.) Sarabjit kaur along with judicial , administrative and police officials students attended the Independence Day function.
