Minister’s rude remark sparks protest; engineers not to perform duties of subordinates: PSEBEA

Powercom engineers will not be performing the duties that fall within the domain of subordinate staff and appear to be assigned with an intent to sabotage the struggle calls given by employee unions.
Ajaypal Sigh Atwal General Secretary PSEB Engineers Association said that the association has written letter to PSPCL/PSTCL management that the current widespread resentment across nearly every cadre, including engineers is a direct result of the mishandling of legitimate issues by the management and the Punjab Government, and the inability to address critical shortage of manpower, pay scale arrears, DA payments, cancellation of 17/7/2020 Punjab govt letter, AE start scale correction & restoration of edge in pay vis-a-vis Punjab govt employees. Violation of tripartite agreement and negative decisions regarding sale of power sector asset sales.
“Today the joint action committee meeting with the power minister ended inconclusively as employees staged a walk out after the power minister gave a rude reply to the sale of PSPCL properties issue. Today’s meeting was fixed by the power minister on April 10 at Patiala as the employees were protesting at the head office of PSPCL. It has been decided that protests will be held on Friday at every divisional /sub-divisional offices across the Punjab.A meeting of the joint platform has been called on 21 April to outline of the next struggle” added Atwal.
