Missing 6.66 crore controversy, SSP Khanna transferred

Election Commission today transferred SSP Khanna, Dhruv Dhahiya and posted Gursharan Deep Grewal, PPS as new SSP Khanna, with immediate effect.

Khanna Police came to limelight after a  priest at Jalandhar, whom residence was unauthorizedly raided by Khanna Police, last month  had claimed that Rs. 6.66 crores were missing from the amount collected by Khanna Police

The priest had reportedly claimed that the money was kept at his house because company employees had refused to go and deposit it in the bank due to the model code of conduct in view of the Lok Sabha polls and Khanna Police collected the whole money but showed less money.

He said that, “Ahead of the raid, I had cash of Rs 16.65 crore. The police have shown only Rs 9.66 crore.  While in custody, I thought it had been taken by the bank, but I got to know the police took it.” Khanna police presented a notice of Rs 9.66 crore to the I-T authorities.

The DGP has reportedly formed a SIT under PK Sinha, Jalandhar Commissioner of Police, Patiala SSP and Punjab AIG (Crime).It was alleged that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Khanna, Dhruv Dhahiya did not take police higher-ups into confidence before conducting the raid.

Shiromani Akali dal has also filled a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju to investigate the missing 6.66 crores.
