MLA in trouble for leveling allegations against VC; defamation notice served

Taking seriously the allegations leveled by Ghanaur congress MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur of being a ‘right-wing’ agent against Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Arvind, the vice chancellor served a defamation case on Jalalpur.

Today, the advocate of renowned scientist and internationally acclaimed academician Prof. Arvind, Vice Chancellor (VC), Punjabi university Patiala has served a Rs 20 cr defamation case on congress MLA from Ghanaur Madan Lal Jalalpur.

Confirming the same, Prof. Arvind, Vice Chancellor (VC), Punjabi university Patiala said, “my advocate has decided the amount of Rs 20 cr, keeping in mind, my achievements.”

When contacted the MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur, he said “as of now, I haven’t received any defamation notice from the vice chancellor.  He further added that, what I had said is totally right. I haven’t spoken any derogatory words. I stand on my words. “

Jalalpur added that, “ I have proves that the vice chancellor attended the  Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) classes. Moreover, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had also attended the RSS classes. Attending RSS classes, follower of RSS is not a derogatory word. CID has all records that he is a RSS worker. MLA said he was displeased over the environment on the campus in which protests were being held during the Chief Minister’s visit. The VC can have arranged a meeting with the CM, but he didn’t”

MLA in trouble for leveling allegations against VC; defamation notice served . It was during Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s visit to the campus on Wednesday when MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur passed remarks against the Vice-Chancellor. Jalalpur, who sought the removal of VC, leveled the allegations in front of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi , finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Prof. Arvind during the CM’s maiden visit to the university. Jalalpur relented only after Channi intervened and pacified him.

Meanwhile, on the press statement of Punjabi University Teachers’ Association that, “MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur issued derogatory statements against the university Vice-Chancellor in the presence of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and called him an RSS agent. These allegations are baseless and false and have affected the university as well” the vice president of PUTA Gurnam Singh Virk, executive member Dr Bhim Inder Singh and Gaurav Gupta disassociated themselves from the above statement of the PUTA.
