Modi College to organise week long academic programmes during Modi Jayanti

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organised a Hawan Yajna on the occasion of 144th Modi Jayanti. A week long academic and literary programmes and competitions were designed to pay obeisance to Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi. The member of Management Committee of the College Prof. Surindra Lal attended the ceremony.

While remembering Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi, College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar said that society should be thankful to his visionary spirit and the commitment to the empowerment of society. He told that Seth Gujjar Mal Modi Ji was ahead of his times in establishing this institution which is committed to higher standards of education and learning.

During the week long celebrations, different competition were organised. In the ‘Essay Writing Competition’ Samar Singh Sohi stood first, Jyoti Singh Puri got second position and Lokinder Sharma secured third position in English Language. In Punjabi Essay Writing Competition, Ramneek Kaur stood first, Preet Kaur and Sakeena shared second position and Gurleen Machhal and Neerja shared the third position. In Hindi essay writing Mehakpreet Kaur stood first, Akshit Garg got second position and Adhiraj secured the third position. The topics of essay writing competition were ‘The Trend of migration: Boon or Bane?’, ‘ Social and Economic Impact of Drug Abuse’ and ‘Social Diversity: Integral to the Unity of India’.

A blood donation camp was organised by the NSS, Scouts and Guides unit of the college which was supervised by a medical team from Govt. Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. A team of doctors led by Dr. Amandeep, Sukhvinder Singh made meticulous arrangements for collecting donated blood. 57 units of blood were donated by the volunteers. A book exhibition is also planned in the series of celebrations.

Retired teachers of the college as well all staff members were present in the ceremony.
