Modi, fifth Prime Minister visiting Patiala

Today, prime minister Narendra Modi is coming to Patiala and he is the fifth Indian Prime Minister to visit Patiala.
Till date Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had visited Patiala for one or the reasons in their tenure as prime ministership. Now, Narendra Modi is the fifth prime minster who is coming to Patiala on May 23,2024.
Out of these five, three are congress prime ministers and rest two are from the bhartiya janta party. Congress PMs came to inaugurate development projects where as BJP prime ministers came to address political cum election rallies.
Late congress prime minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru visited Patiala in 1950s-1960s to inaugurate various projects in Patiala, when Patiala was the capital of PEPSU.
Late congress Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visited Patiala to lay the foundation stone of satluj yaumna link (SYL) river at Kapuri village in 1982.
Another congress former prime minister of India late Rajeev Gandhi visited Patiala to inaugurate the regional office of North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) at Sheesh Mahal, Patiala in November 1985.
Another former prime minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee of BJP visited Patiala 2004 to address an election rally in favour of Capt Kanwaljit Singh. At that time shiromani akali dal and bhartiya janta party had an alliance and Capt Kanwaljit Singh, senior akali dal leader was their joint candidate. Vajpayee came to address an election rally at the same venue, Polo Ground where Narendra Modi is coming. At that time Vajpayee campaigned against congress candidate Preneet Kaur. SAD-BJP candidate Capt Kanwaljit Singh lost that election to congress candidate Preneet Kaur.
Modi, fifth Prime Minister visiting Patiala. After 20 years, a BJP Prime Minister is coming to address the election rally in favour of Patiala parliamentary constituency candidate . Today, PM Modi is coming to address the rally at same location-Polo Ground were former PM Vajpayee came to address the rally. But this time the party candidate is Preneet Kaur who was the opposition candidate in 2004.
