In a surprise move, Union Minister Pashu Pati Kumar Paras announced his resignation Tuesday morning and withdrew his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party from the BJP-led national alliance.
“The NDA (the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance) deal has been announced. I am grateful to the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi). My party and I faced injustice. So I am resigning as minister.”
The announcement came at a press conference a day after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance announced its seat-sharing pact and gave five seats to Paras’s nephew Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Pashu Pati Kumar Paras from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution.
