MOHUA officials visited Patiala; district administration officials showcased various success stories from the city

Rahul Kapoor, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA), Government of India, along with the Baldeep Singh, Technical Director, Local Government Punjab, visited Patiala today to interact with beneficiaries of key government initiatives, including the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) and the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme.
The visit included a detailed interaction with members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), beneficiaries of the Self-Employment Program (SEP), and street vendors supported under the PM SVANidhi scheme. The discussions were focused on gathering feedback to ensure these initiatives are better aligned with the needs of the beneficiaries.
As part of the field visit, Kapoor also visited Street Vending Site No. 22 at Sanouri Adda, where he engaged with street vendors and commended their efforts in utilizing government support to enhance their livelihoods. He praised the innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives taken by SHGs under the DAY-NULM scheme, highlighting their role in empowering communities and fostering self-reliance.
Babandeep Singh, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Patiala, along with the Secretary-cum-Nodal Officer of DAY-NULM, and the City Mission Manager (CMM) for DAY-NULM and PM SVANidhi, accompanied Kapoor during the visit. They presented an overview of the progress made under these schemes and showcased various success stories from the city.
